Gee, I'm thinking a "reversal of fortunes" and an October date.

Grand-Am in May at Indy won't happen.  Takes too long to convert the track from an oval to a road course and vice versa.  Track officials have made comments that affect.

Does make for an interesting premise.  The motorcycle races have been moderately successful, so they keep them and add Grand-Am or does Grand-Am take the place of the motorcycle races?  I guess it depends on if they feel they can pull a new outside crowd in.  Local Indy pundits think about 3 sets of races is all the that the local crowd will support.

I'm chomping at the bit to hear if and when they'll be heading to Indy.  I've seen both the 500 and the GP there.  Both are awesome and I think a GA race would be more of the same.

It would have to be a 12 hour though.  12 Hours of the Brickyard.  Come on, that is awesome!

I don't think the Speedway will allow anything other than a sprint race.  We can't have these guys get more track time/exposure than Sprint Cup or The 500, now can we.

I don't think you'll see Laguna in October.  I very much suspect Homestead has the contract to hold the season finale for the next few years, as I know is the case with the IndyCar Series.  I also am quite confident that NASCAR isn't going to allow that other event weekend to be any closer to their season finale events.  And since all three NASCAR series are there in November, I don't see there being the track time for the Grand-Am race then.  Plus, a lot of the teams would NOT be happy about the season being stretched by an extra month.

Well, I think it's pretty bad we don't have a West Coast race this year.  Guess I'll have to check out the ALMS at Laguna.  Thankful it doesn't compete with a GA race.  At least they went back to the final event being at Miller.  That's a great facility and it's a little closer than all the East Coast Venues.  I understand that the cost to come west is a little more expensive for the guys, but I think this really is wrong for the west half of the US!

I am glad the last weekend of April GA is back at VIR!  The only race I get to see in person unless I talk my brother into traveling down to Daytona this year.

Considering the Portland Historics are far more interesting than the SCCA "marquee event" in June, I'm not surprised. (Two words: "Haggispeed Clubman". :) )
