WC'r here
The Koni/rolex event at laguna had an OK turn out for fans/spectators. But the past weekend with ALMS/WC/IMSA saturday was PACKED, like hard to walk around, let alone get your car to pre-grid on saturday. Sunday wasn't nearly as bad, much more like the koni/rolex weekend.
I like both series but for completly different reasons. I like the technology, and sounds of the ALMS/WC cars. The racing, as a whole, is MUCH better in Rolex. Koni has had some good battles but nothing like years passed with i-moto/geogian bay/compass360/turner/phenoix/speedsource/bill fenton.

looks like we're going to run in January at Pomona.
now there's a novel idea ... run the quarter , take it deep under braking til the return road and back to the staging area, all in front of jam packed bleachers ,,,
25 second runs will be hell on clutches but easy on the motors ... best 2 outta 3 wins the race ... Speed TV already there to broadcast ... you may be on to something there JJ

Perhaps some like Pepe took me the wrong way. I am so far removed from being a fan I don't know where to begin. I think it would be best if I stopped posting on this board, since I am now realizing that what I say is not connecting and those who are offended do not understand my point of view. For many, racing is an escape and a source of entertainment and fantasy, hence the screensaver comment. For me it is a job - my only job - and can be anything but an escape and far from entertaining. My screensaver is my 9 year old daughter holding a figure skating trophy (first place, of course). I still love racing and am glad to be where I am. Stand in my shoes and you can type from my keyboard.
I will refrain from making sarcastic points in the future. I am only trying to give inside information that I thought most people, especially fans, would want to know. Sorry to ruin the fantasy.
After further review, I will not stop. If you can't take it for what it is, watch the Golf channel. I call them like I see them, and I don't pull punches. An equal opportunity insulter, if you will.
You can choose not to read my posts. Yeah, I'm back.

don't change a thing MCM, this board will shrivel up and die without contributions from everyone who posts their thoughts and opinions here. This BB is a rareity in that you, JJ, KT and a few others do chime in with info we would otherwise not receive. We need more of the actual racer types to participate, providing all with an "inside" look as to what's going on. Even if half of what would be written would be self serving agendas, smoke and distraction ... but, hey, thats half the fun !
I come here sometimes to BS and entertain, rarely providing any real factual insight, sometimes with a contraian point of view, but always looking for knowledge on what's going on in the Koni Series. Most of the others here accomplish the same. All good and necessary for the board to be visited and read.
Soo ... bets being taken here in these parts asking how many laps will the 'Bat dude' go at the Daytona test days in the new Koni GS M3 before he finds the wall ??
p.s. also like to stir up a little trouble ...

It's all good times. I get your POV better Matt. Begs the question as to whether it is better to have the fantasy and the escape in amateur racing/hot lapping vs. career racing.
I was thinking it'd be nice to see road racing be as big as ovals in the U.S. (much like F1 is for Euros). There's a lot of car enthusiasts in the Northwest, and we see some drifting and drags but nothing as cool as KONI.
Someone else pointed out though that facilities might need to be expanded and this is true. PINKS ALL OUT took over all of Turn 9 just for the teams and their RV's.
They've got some great rennovation plans, which haven't even been started yet.. but until that's done, it probably won't be possible.

Apologies for the wait -- had to move a body. (I'm not kidding.)
Mr. Connolly: For one, I'm already aware of just how hard it is to accomplish anything in motorsport. What I'm trying to do is learn enough about the business-side to do something to improve the couldn't-get-much-worse state of play up here. You're helpful there. Keep it up.
Stigmartyr: Therein lies the problem -- the facilities can't be expanded without money; the money doesn't come in unless there's a marquee event; the marquee event won't show up until the facilities are improved; repeat ad nauseam.
sportswriter: There's a lot of dragstrips out there which have road courses built into the return-road system; go to chasinracin.net, and look at the facilities using Google Maps or Flashearth.
